Linus he's not stupid, nobody really understand what linus really think while his absent.
There's no way he'd drop Tux to someone unknown. Tux kernel is what he love.
Perhaps why he was so rude in the past because he's strict prevent bad coders mutate Tux to rooster.
He may allow anyone code feeding Tux but not to poison coding or mutate it's kernel structure.
Even github incident while linux dev panick to gitlab.
Linus he doesn't panic & stay calm on github.
He's not being vampire & freak out MS's garlic like linux fanboyz does.
He face the problem.

Those stir the rumors that he leave linux their face would break from their embarrassment.

Yep! Linus wants to be in total control and not let silly mutations into his precious kernel that has been around for 27 years now. We'll be coming up on 30 very soon. That will be an exciting day. I do hope the 2038 bug gets fixed before it happens, though. Otherwise we will end up having the next Y2K.

They have 20 years to solve that problem... Gosh, I will be close to 70 years old when that happens. My father died just after turning 70! MY candle may burn out before then if I am not lucky enough to live that long LOL!
