I found an older version of manjaro. I pop in the install flash drive and isntantly it recognizes my wifi. This should solve my situation. I can DL all updates to bring it up to speed. What a relief this is!!!!

Too bad you were unable to get a solve for Kubuntu but at least the Manjaro disk worked for you. For now I will mark this topic as solved and if you have further problems, feel free to start a new topic.

I've had similar issues in years gone by on a Dell Latitude notebook - the wlan0 was showing up as eth1! LOL!
