@ Coastie, seems like "Octopi" should be a good choice for someone knew to arch-based distro's.
But when i read that you are in search for a beginner friendly distro i don't think that it is a wise diccision to go with Arch-based.

If coastie has some technical know-how, I would actually encourage trying out Manjaro. It is not that hard to learn and the terminal commands are easier than what you would issue in Ubuntu IMHO!

Not sure about the Terminal use but your Colopsys Manjaro may be my first step up in difficulty level distro. I know I am not ready for Arch.

Still wonder if Colopsys have the Manjaro GUI updater and notifier or at least one like in "Install Update - Terminal" like in Linux Lite?

As stated before mahmoud, this will be a very minimal OS which you can build on top of. I want to try to make this small enough to fit on a CD if possible.

...and from the conclusion in the video i'm guessing The Boss will be including Pamac (unless it's going to be too stripped down for either package manager/updater).

What i can tell you though, is that any arch related fears you have about Manjaro and it's spins are pretty redundant, as Manjaro protects you from a lot of the risk of breakage that folk report when using Arch.

Anyway, Colopsys is being developed by 'The Boss' and he's very thorough, plus he LOVES Manjaro and won't sell us a crock. I can pretty much guarantee that.

I know that i'll be giving it a spin in full confidence when it's ready

Unfortunately I could not get a CD sized ISO. It will be 1.2gig. YES PAMAC comes standard with Manjaro XFCE so that is what you will be getting

I don't think that there are many modern distros that still fit (or even try to fit) on a CD these days anyway. Don't most folk use USB sticks now?

Should copy fine with Unetbootin, if Manjaro works with it.

Looking forward to this! Might/Will install this on my new PC when it's bought and I've built it!

Most distros even Ubuntu now doesn't fit on a CD. If your computer only boots CD-ROMS you'll need a pre-bootloader like this one Plop Boot Manager
Puppy is a great distro for such hardware and is between 100 and 200mb tiny but powerful.
