Manjaro-Cup of Linux Edition is UNDERWAY!
« on: April 01, 2014, 09:30:13 PM »
Here are a few screenshots to show what you can come to expect! This new SPIN will be MANJARO. This spin will be a SMALL distribution you can easily build on top of. Colopsys will have the following features:

  • BASE XFCE INSTALLATION
  • ELEGANT DARK THEME
  • Drop Down terminal
  • BORDERLESS WINDOWS
  • Compiz and Emerald with Spatry's Configuration settings
  • Limited preinstalled software
  • 32 and 64 bit editions

Every attempt will be made to create a distribution small enough to fit on a CD. So only the basic essential software will be supplied in this release. Any feature requests of suggestions can be placed here for consideration! CHEERS!

I actually thought about building my distribution on top of this one, however with the work that I already have done and such. It would just be even more work to use this as a base instead of a plain Manjaro Linux. Well anyways can't wait to test it out.

WOW This time I'm actually giving a thumbs up to something. Normally I am spending time hating on nVidia.

Does that mean all the software that is installed on your computer will not be included in this release??

Correct! I am not going to include software people may nor wish to use. I am offering a BASE system you can build on top of. If there is anything I hate more than finding soggy bathroom tissue in a public restroom, it is having to uninstall unneeded applications after doing a FRESH install of a Linux distro.

You should include a text document with the  list of packages on your system just what like Matthew_Moore did with his respin.

Looking forward to how you get it all in a CD. Not using any major eye candy myself I'll probably have fun playing with your mug desktop cylinder.

I will do better than that! I will have a video explaining usage and installed software.

A while back I asked QuidsUp what software he had on his Ubuntu system, just because I was curious. Turns out he took the time and made a video without me asking for one of all the software on his Ubuntu 13.04 installation. Now he runs SolydK, but anyways heres that video link.  newbielink:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jZTTp8nefw [nonactive]

I think this is a great project ! - Only the other day I was thinking to myself about a light weight Manjaro install.

I thought about using Manjaro Open Box as a base and maybe adding Docky to make it more user friendly and other apps of course. But I failed at the first hurdle I couldn't even get Open Box to run.

Was just about to re-install Manjaro XFCE today but now I think I'll wait to see yours - Good Luck With That !

( P.s. I think the Matthew version is awesome just too heavy for my needs )

Regards

...probably doesn't count because you sorted that one out already!

Spatry, will you include instructions on how to re-add the window borders/window controls? Where I do understand why people remove them, and could probably get used to it, I'd like the option to put them back. So will there be video instructions on how to re-add or, even better, will you include a shortcut or something to re-enable the borders? I don't know. Just sort of a thought.
Do the right thing. Use Linux.

I think Spatry will include his Emerald Theme he created so you can use that and you will get window borders.
