I like his reviews too. I would go with Debian GNU/kFreeBSD  http://www.cupoflinux.com/SBB/index.php/topic,2939.msg23220.html#msg23220
if I wanted to change to BSD. Debian GNU/kFreeBSD seems to take the best from BSD and Linux.

I have a new computer now which could run it but I'll stick with Linux Lite.
Left Mac OS X for Linux in Jan 2014.
