A BSD Sub-forum would be nice
« on: January 28, 2015, 09:23:19 PM »
I think BSD is popular enough to have one. No idea where to post this. General Discussion seems fitting.
Just a friendly suggestion.

I am very sorry if this was posted in the wrong section.

I had previously asked Spatry about that, this is however a Linux-centric forum. BSD wasn't even in the Other-distro section until I asked him about it.  There are only a couple of BSD users on the forum.  When I asked him about it he said that if there was enough interest in the community he would look into making it's own section though.  Also this is a good spot so that others can voice their opinion into it.  I personally think that it is fine in the other distro section, as there is not enough BSD activity on the forums to warrant a BSD specific forum.

Maybe add a Sub-Sub Forum under the Other Distros section so BSD threads are all together?

+1 I for one cannot provide support for it because I do not use it myself.

There really isn't need for one, the Other distro sections is small enough that it is easy to scroll through and find BSD threads, I did the same thing for Gentoo for a long time.  If it becomes a huge problem, or we get a huge influx of BSD users then it might be necessary but for now it should be fine as is.

I came to this forum from a link/recommendation in another Linux forum, & stumbled into the BSD sub forum, much appreciated.

There are not many BSD specific forums, only Daemon, FreeBSD & PC-BSD, (from memory).
But I have found another site, nixers.net,  that has a BSD section as well.
Linux since 1999, & now OpenBSD.
