Cup Of Linux Community Game Server?
« on: August 10, 2014, 08:12:59 AM »
As we all know it can be frustrating sometimes to get a server sorted out for game nights unless this is possible via the game, So here is my proposal, and feel free to shoot it down with a all engulfing fireball of death.

Donation supported Community Game server, that we can put whatever game we want on and run it.

Basically very similar to how clans / guilds etc work, This way the server would pretty much always be available when required and would be pretty much on our terms.

Obviously this would have a price each month, and I am aware that some people are unable to donate towards something like this, but for some of us throwing a few $/£/€ isn't a major issue, and gives a lot more control and flexibility.

There are many options out there for hosting, and again this is just an idea.

I thought about that a while ago as well. Though I don't have any money :/
however i'd be up for a few € every now and then. It really depends on how much the server is. It would be best to be located in the us with a good (fast) connection to europe

If you ask 12 different people what the best linux distro is to use you will definitely get 12 different answers. Try some and decide for yourself. The quieter you become the more you are able to hear![insert wise signature here].Programming is not an art damn it it's a science.

I am all for it. This is a poor time of year to set something like this up. YT revenues are lower in the summer months.
