Hey, how about Team Fortress 2? It's a free to play FPS shooter with different classes (9 of em)!
I also got paid suggestions like:
Counter Strike (1.6/cz/source) - I'm very good at this game - £7 1.6+cz £15 source
Team Fortress Classic - The older team fortress
Garry's Mod - Huh, it's around £6 on steam

In my opinion the games should all be F2P, but I would DEFINITELY be up for TF2

We do not want to leave out anyone who cannot afford to play so "Free to play" or FOSS games should be selected for official game nights.

I do not spend enough time on STEAM to feel the need for starting a community there. We have a gaming community section on this forum and I feel that is good enough. If one of my Staff members (and only a staff member not a regular community member) wants to start a Spatry community on steam and maintain it, I am OK with that.
