Maybe because I switched to Arch Linux? Unlikely... The shape of Linux is constantly evolving and changing... 5 years from now, who knows, maybe Puppy Linux will steal the Royal Crown!
I recently installed MX on my laptop. Linux is all I have used sence 2011.It has greatly improved, but doesn't seem to gain any market share on Windows. That's a puzzle to me?
Linux is not sold on store shelves with the exception of Chrome (and Android on mobiles... Linux dominates everywhere EXCEPT the desktop) most people will buy a windows machine and do not have the skills to swap out the OS. Linux will never gain any real momentum because Microsoft has deals with most of the PC developers... In order to be Microsoft Compliant, they cannot sell machines with Linux on store shelves. I could be wrong but my instinct tells me there is a lot of truth in that statement knowing Microsoft's shady past.
despite all of the positive aspects of using Linux, that it hasn't gained more traction.
