it's worth mentioning, that Compiz-Reloaded most likely won't work with Unity (stock Ubuntu's default desktop) because Unity 7 actually is a Compiz-Plugin. So keep that in mind ;)

I had to revert to an older install to fix a problem with the fusion-icon.... Please report your error to the developers on IRC so they can fix it...

If you are using the compiz-reloaded software, it is under HEAVY development. Please connect to the team on FREENODE IRC in #compiz-reloaded. They are a very friendly bunch and they should be able to help you get the software working. Thanks.

just a note for anyone experiencing problems with fusion-icon (at least in Manjaro)

As I recently installed Manjaro XFCE openRC on a new SSD, I have been trying to duplicate my older Manjaro XFCE systemD install (with Compiz-reloaded)

At first, I had a problem that fusion-icon would not run, and while I was sure I had asked here and gotten an answer I could not find that post for the life of me... when trying to run fusion-icon in terminal though I got a message that said something about being unable to find appindicator, which finally refreshed my memory about what I did in the systemD version...

You should install libappindicator-gtk2 and libappindicator-gtk3 (I even installed the 32 bit versions just to be safe) and that fixed the problem.

I can also state categorically that any bugs in the git packages are currently solved, as I did the openRC install within the last week (today is July 11, 2016)

Maybe this will save someone some wasted effort. Yeah I'm one of those people who likes eye candy in their DE. I switched to KDE back when Gnome 3 and Unity appeared. Been happy enough with it but kwin doesn't have as many effects as the old Compiz did. Decided to test Mint 18 Mate 64 bit and noticed it came with Compiz but didn't have all the features I remembered. Did a little research (but not enough!) and ran Soreau's install scripts which failed to work. After more research (here on COL) I realized that the Mint folks are using the compiz version that comes with Unity and not the compiz-reloaded packages. So unless I missed something those of you who use Mint mate will be stuck with the version that comes pre-installed.

I can't get the fusion icon to work it is visible on my panel (after I sent it there) left click nothing happens and right click only give me a menu for removing/moving the item.
Tried to run fusion-icon in terminal and get the following:
Code: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
[rob@rob ~]$ fusion-icon
