-Syyu or -Syuu ?
Here's a recent post at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login:
I always wait for Octopi to inform me that updates are available, then open a terminal and use sudo pacman -Syuu.
The extra "u" will alert me of any conflicting dependencies with things I have installed via the AUR.
I've been doing it this way for 17 months and only ever had the one issue that I mentioned previously.
I never figured out what caused that though, but it's ok now!
Thanks for the tip Spatry - will definitely consider it.

And who was it that said that Manjaro was a "user friendly" Arch distro?

You want to use the -Syyu switch... That command forces lists to synchronize first before performing an update.

Can you actually use this distro anymore? Or is it considered obsolete? I want to know since it looks like a great distro

Yes, the desktop is based on XFCE. Matthew Moore did a review some time back. The theming and setting panel give away the specific DE. Included the video below.

Matthew Moore posted this video around New Year. Sounds like he is leaning toward retiring his respin of Manjaro. No official announcement if he ended up retiring it or not? :(

vic, not entirely sure why it doesn't install the respin the same way. The last time I tested the distro was just off the live image, but never installed it. Might have better luck direct messaging him on the forum. Haven't seen him active here for a little while.

Might be better to contact him through YouTUBE. I have not seen him around either.

As I understand it he's between Linux and Windows these days, its possible he ditched Linux and his distro by extension

Yes, I believe the distro was discontinued due to lack of interest/avg downloads by the community. Sourceforge shows the last update was posted 2017-06-10. Also, considering the changes being made within Manjaro, it is becoming harder for those spinning of distros to continue to maintain them. It's understandable. He may pick it up again at a later time as well, you never know. :)

I would recommend checking his channel for further updates. Please feel free to message him on his YouTube channel directly. I have included a link below to his About page.
