Grey (not transparent) 3D Titles in Openshot
« on: March 25, 2015, 03:40:38 PM »
I was trying to make a few 3D titles in Openshot, and noticed that quite a few of them did NOT have transparent backgrounds, but a solid grey color.

Needless to say, this just wouldn't work. So, I did some searching on the 'Net, and came up with this:
newbielink:http://www.mp-development.de/blog/18-openshot-blender-titelanimation-transparenz-fehler [nonactive]

German. Great. But, code is code. So further searching brought up this (which is still a bit confusing for most):
newbielink:http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1713&start=20#p9561 [nonactive]

Basically, you:
Code: newbielink:javascript:void(0); [nonactive]
sudo grep -l "'alpha' : 1.0," /usr/share/pyshared/openshot/blender/scripts/*

That gives you the "file list" of 3D titles that won't render correctly.
Open the file you wish in whatever editor you want with root privileges, and search for:
Code: newbielink:javascript:void(0); [nonactive]
'alpha' : 1.0,
Right after that line, insert:
Code: newbielink:javascript:void(0); [nonactive]
'alpha_mode' : 'TRANSPARENT',
Next, search for:
Code: newbielink:javascript:void(0); [nonactive]
try:
bpy.context.scene.render.file_format = params["file_format"]
bpy.context.scene.render.color_mode = params["color_mode"]
After that FULL block of text (there may be some more lines after the search term), but BEFORE the next block (# Animation Speed, usually), insert:
Code: newbielink:javascript:void(0); [nonactive]
# Set background transparency (SKY or TRANSPARENT)
try:
    bpy.context.scene.render.alpha_mode = params["alpha_mode"]
except:
    pass
Save the file, and you're good to go.
newbielink:https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4pnn09nC14bZ3p0QjE4UFZJWVk&authuser=0 [nonactive], all ready to go, if you want to use them.
Enjoy!
