I think one of the best games in here and a perfect for game night would be 0.A.D ;)

Yes, i thought so as well and I enjoyed playing that game very much. However it is still in Alpha-stage and there still is 1 thing that makes it unplayable in gamenight ATM: if many units move on the map (which is VERY likely to happen) you'll get about 5fps. SO we gotta wait until this is sorted out. However, we could play widelands in the meantime :)

Jay, here are some suggestions I have for shooters outside of Xonotic.  Some have been mentioned/suggested before (several are on your list), but I can verify these are all still maintained, and I could get them installed on Linux as well as FreeBSD, so pretty much anyone should be able to play.  I'm working on a list of some others that are not shooters. These are all at least relatively modern, I'm not 100% on the online multiplayer, though.  A few are derivatives of others, and Open Astro Menace is a space shooter, not an FPS.
Assault Cube
Black Shades Elite
Blood Frontier
Nexuiz
Open Astro Menace
Red Eclipse
Sauerbraten
Cube
Warsow

EDIT:  There is also a game fairly similar to Star Conflict I'm playing with, called Vega Strike.  Only the SVN builds have multiplayer right now, though, I'm not sure how stable it is.

Warzone2100 is a fun game which has strategy elements similar to 0AD but with a futuristic theme. When released it was proprietary, now it is FLOSS.

Indeed it is, very good single player campaign too, played this a lot back in the day, It's very nice when developers put their past works out as FLOSS
